Where your avatar is at the time and available nodes will determine how any furniture piece will sit. I will admit, I get very frustrated myself with trying to place ANYTHING on the ceiling nodes built into the mesh design. Often I have to rotate the camera or move to another spot in the room. I hope this helps. As you can see on the promo pic, it can be done...eventually.
